If you are planning to buy property in Brazil, one of the first things you will need is a CPF.
CPF stands for Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas. It is the Brazilian individual taxpayer identification number, issued by the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service, Receita Federal. You do not have to be a Brazilian citizen or resident to obtain one. Foreigners can apply for a CPF and it is commonly required when buying property, opening a bank account and dealing with many other financial and administrative matters in Brazil.
Getting a CPF is normally a simple process. You will need to provide your identification documents and complete the CPF application. The CPF itself is free. There is no government charge for obtaining the number through the appropriate Receita Federal channels, although some authorised service points may charge a small administrative fee.
If you are in Poland, you can apply through the Brazilian Consulate according to the procedure applicable to your situation. You can also choose to have the paperwork prepared for you.
I work with an employee in Poland who handles the CPF application process for my clients. If you simply want help completing the documents and preparing everything correctly, the cost of this service is 500 PLN.
If you prefer not to deal with the consulate yourself, there is also another possibility. With a Power of Attorney, we can arrange the CPF application on your behalf, so you do not have to go to the Brazilian Consulate personally. This is a separate service and the cost depends on the individual situation and the scope of the assistance required. We can discuss the details and the price by phone.
The CPF itself does not cost 500 PLN. The CPF is free. The fee is for the assistance with preparing the documents or, if you choose the full service, arranging the application for you.
Having your CPF ready is often one of the first practical steps when preparing to buy property in Brazil, especially if you are still in Poland and want to have the paperwork organised before you start the purchase process.
